Willie D Arrested in iPhone Scam

According to a report in today’s Houston Chronicle, Texas rap artist William “Willie D” James Dennis is being charged in a wire fraud scheme involving iPhones. Willie D was arrested yesterday at Houston’s Bush Intercontinental Airport as he was returning from an overseas trip.
The Chronicle said the former Geto Boys member appeared in federal court today. Dennis is slated to appear again on Friday, and prosecutors indicated they will fight his release on bail, insisting he is a flight risk.
Through a front company, Willie D received thousands of dollars from foreigners and promised to ship several bulk orders of iPhones, according to an FBI affidavit. But, continues the Chronicle story, he always made excuses, never delivering the goods and keeping the money.
